Hi [First_Name]!

Hope you are safe, healthy and happy.  Me, well everythings great, except I've been getting strange looks from my neigbours after all the "Ohh"s, "Ahh"s and "Yes"s were overheard coming from my apartment during the final round of the Masters.  Together with the constant sound of thumping against walls (the sound made when my chip shots don't quite make it into the washing basket), they must think I'm quite the performer in the other popular "sport" that you don't have to be good at to enjoy.  (So I've heard!)

Enough of the nonsense and onto the serious (as it gets around here) stuff...

Great golfing!

Kim

Gofthink Deal of the Month

50% OFF 18 HOLE PLAYING LESSON
As we kind of shanked it this month and sent this out late, we'll extend this offer until June 13th 2004.  Just book an 18 hole playing lesson at Kiarti Thanee Country Club and you'll get 50% off the usual price.

This is a great way to shave a few shots off your score without making any major changes to your swing.  One of the biggest problems of most amateur golfers is that they haven't learned to manage their game and try to hit shots that even Phil wouldn't hit.

The Small Print
This offer is only valid for subscribers of this newsletter, weekdays (not including public holidays), and subject to instructor availability.

I'M INTERESTED!

No More Lies With True Golf
Golfthink is pleased to announce our strategic alliance with True Golf Enterprises .  The deal, finalised last week, means True Golf will lead Golfthink's Product Development Initiative for the next three years.  True Golf will be responsible for R & D, while the two companies will work together in Sales and Marketing.

The first product, the True Driver, is the first new club I've put in my bag in four years.  The driver can be custom fitted, custom branded, and features a stylish 410 cc head made from Aerospace grade 10-2-3 Titanium.  We invite you test drive the demo club against any brand name driver and compare the performance.

Great Golf Courses in Thailand
In April we were fortunate enough to play the amazing Santiburi Country Club.  Just 25 minutes from Chiang Rai International Airport, Santiburi is one of those courses that you know is going to be great the moment you catch a glimpse of the first hole.

Of all the great courses in Thailand, including Thai Country Club, Alpine Golf & Sports Club, Blue Canyon, Laem Chabang and many more, Santiburi has made it to the top of Golfthink's places to play.  It's situated in the rolling hills of beautiful Chiang Rai and is a course you must play if you've ever picked up a golf club.  The front nine weaves its way around some tranquil lakes and is the best in Thailand.  The back nine is equally impressive and the whole experience is one not to be missed.

What's Been Happening at Golfthink

- We interviewed one of the nicest guys you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting - Mr. Kevin Beauvais, CEO of Royal Garden Resorts.  Mr. Beauvais is a keen golfer, although doesn't get to play much these days with the all great work he does with William Heinecke.  Buy Golf Asia Magazine to get the full interview!

- Stayed a couple of nights at the enchanting Anantara Resort & Spa Golden Triangle, shot one under par at the spectacular Santiburi Country Club, took a long tail boat ride on the Mekong and burned our throat out tasting the potent Laotian Whisky.

- Officially formed a Strategic Alliance with True Golf Enterprises.

- Organized the Amari Atrium Hotel Golf Day at Kiarti Thanee Country Club.  They had a great team of associates who charmed all the players in 40 degree heat, and of the 100 or so events I've been involved with, this was one of the more pleasureable.

- Burned a hole in our favourite golf shirt by having the iron on too high.  (We've since outsourced our ironing requirements and will definitely be sticking with just golf for now)

The Faces Behind Thailand Golf

This month we begin to feature people in Thailand golf, and as I just thought of this while writing this newsletter, you're going to have to settle for reading about myself this month:

Profile
Name:                     Kim Inglis
Nationality:              New Zealand
Company:                Golfthink Co.,Ltd

My Most Memorable Golfing Moment is...
Playing a round at Vermont's Burlington Country Club with my former boss Wesley Jones and good mate Art Devlin, two of the most sincere guys I've ever met.  We flew over from Lake Placid in Art's light aeroplane and landed on a private airstrip next to the course.  "I am Tiger Woods" I thought to myself, only to snap-hook it off the first tee and quickly return to earth.

The Best Thing About Golf Is...
I'll be writing an article on the attraction of golf very soon, but I guess the one thing that keeps me coming back is the comaraderie.  There's no other game that allows you to make friends easier and faster than golf.

The One Thing I Would Change About Golf if I Could is...
In Asia, I don't understand why many players don't want to join up with other players.  One of the great things about golf is that you can go to a course by yourself and meet some really fun and interesting people out on the course.  That's one of the biggest differences about playing golf in Asia - and I'd make it mandatory to join up with other players wherever possible.

The Golfer I Admire the Most is...
The golfers I most admire are not the Tiger Woods or the Phil Mickelsons, but all those players who can't or struggle to break 100, can't hit it 300 yards, get beaten up by the game week after week, and still keep coming back.  It takes great courage, determination and character to keep playing a game that can give you so much frustration and turmoil.

Favourite Course
Maybe because I just played it, but I don't remember ever enjoying a golf course as much as I did Santiburi Country Club.  Every hole was memorable, and I think I could play that course everyday for the rest of my life and not get bored by it.
