Sawasdee Golfing Friends! I was shocked to read recently that online newsletters are dead. Lucky this a memoir and not a newsletter so I can wipe the sweat of my forehead and get straight into it. From Bangkok Kim In This Issue 1. How Golf & CRM Are Related 2. Confessions of a Golf Professional 3. The Chronicles of Curious George How Golf & CRM Are Related
I was recently asked by the Examplar of Exceeding Expectations, how I was going to tie in Golf & CRM.
Well it just so happened days before I had recently read an article about Tiger Woods' coach Hank Haney, who had this to say about golf and customer loyalty:
"What I'm looking for is repeat business. Whether you teach golf or serve hamburgers, the most important part of business is getting people to come back. I don't think the reason McDonald's advertises is to get customers through their doors for the first time."
Hank, when Tiger gives you the bumsrush, there's an opening at MobyElite for you.
Confessions of a Golf Professional
One beautifully sunny July day, 18 holes just didn't satisfy the appetite and a group of golf whipper-snappers proceeded to hit 7 irons off the carpark over the clubhouse onto the 18th green at a course far far away in a land where people finish their sentances with "Eh".
Soon, boredom set in, and after a couple of coca cola's, it was decided we'd play a round in the dark, which turned out to be a lesson in feel.
In the dark, your sense of feel increases. I used to recommend to my students that they also go play a round of golf in the dark until I started getting funny looks and wondered why they never returned.
Now, being the "Thailand golf veteran" (Asian Golf Monthly Magazine) I just recommend to take a few swings with your eyes closed. You'll quickly learn you need a smooth swing to make contact and learn to feel what the club is doing.
The Chronicles of Curious George
This month Curious George didn't really live up to his name and instead was feeling philosophical:How Much is Game Improvement Worth? - Golfthink discovered inflation recently and have since posted some new Lesson Rates, which don't amount to much when you consider David Leadbetters rate for half a day at just US$10,000. Sure, our teaching pro's don't quite have his star student line-up, but not so long ago we yelled at Jack Nicklaus' ball at a skins game to "get in the hole", and once dated a girl who (had to) let Chelsea Clinton sleep in her bed, so that's gotta count for something in my books. Lastly, if you're feeling lethargic, check out my latest article in the Health & Fitness edition of OB Golf & Lifestyle Magazine - The Lazy Man's Guide to Better Golf.
